Alex Nicolas

Alex first came to Pilates because of low back pain induced by many years of sitting at a desk. After a few months of practice, she was feeling better and her low back pain was on its way out. A few years later, reading Joseph Pilates’ Return to Life through Contrology, she was blown away by his vision: empowering people to take care of their physical and mental health in a proactive manner through breath and movement. When the pandemic hit, she took the opportunity to enroll into The Pilates Center Teacher training program. Having recently graduated, Alex is looking to empower people to take care of their physical and mental health in a proactive manner through breath and movement.

Peter is a Level 2 Franklin Method Educator, and sees great benefit in utilizing functional anatomy, imagery, and awareness training in his class. Maggie Lin

Maggie began her fitness journey in 2014 lifting weights and practicing Yoga in Taipei. Exploring a multitude of physical activities fostered her knowledge of kinesiology and built a passion for movement and health. However, Maggie was met with chronic knee pain from an ankle injury. In 2018, aiming to relieve this pain, she discovered Pilates in Hong Kong. Pilates not only rehabilitated her injury, but also brought additional benefits including improved mobility, body control, and overall energy and strength.

Recognizing the potential of Pilates, Maggie moved to Vancouver in 2021 to train under some of the best Pilates teachers worldwide, directly under the lineage of Joseph Pilates. Maggie graduated from the Classical Pilates Teacher Training Program in 2023 under Noam Gagnon. Now, Maggie teaches principles of Classical Pilates utilizing tools from the modern Franklin Method. She brings a wealth of benefits to her students from relieving back pain and improving overall mobility to unlocking their full movement and performance potential.

Maggie is available to teach in both English and Mandarin!

“I have been going to various Pilates classes for decades and I often remained stuck with the same instructors and same routines. I quite enjoyed them and this became part of my life. Then I discovered Canvas Pilates and a whole new world opened up for me. Coming out of COVID, I felt I had aged considerably. Believe it or not, attending these Pilates sessions breathed fresh air and vibrancy into my soul! Each individual instructor is vastly different than the other in terms of their techniques, personalities and creativity. The classes are taught with cues, progressions, discipline and humour, and I feel totally blessed to have Canvas as part of my lifestyle.”
