What Pilates Means to Me…

Movement has been and forever will be an integral part of my life.  It’s my form of expression, my meditation, my grounding, my connection, my outlet, & my inspiration.

Pilates for me is a form of exercise that has taught me how to connect to a deeper level with myself. It has brought an awareness of moving “more mindfully” that was unknown to me before. It’s helped me bring symmetry to imbalance and strength to weakness. The Pilates methodology & skills gained from this practice is timeless and fosters longevity as we age.

Sharing this knowledge & encouraging everyone to incorporate this movement in their life is my life’s purpose.

My Path to Pilates

Marcia Rosales is a 3rd generation certified classical Pilates teacher dedicated to empowering others to live their fullest in their bodies through Pilates.  Although classically trained, Marcia integrates various styles of movement to create a strong, effective, & playful workout that’s custom tailored to her student’s goals. Her charismatic nature & energetic spirit translates to a strong connection between her and her students, inspiring them to move past fear & judgement.

Having experienced the benefits herself after years of various physical activity and injury, she became deeply passionate with the Pilates methodology as the premier form of exercise that promotes longevity.  Possessing a strong background in anatomy & having a keen eye for observing body mechanics, Marcia leads her clients towards building more balanced movement patterns. Through the usage of clear & creative cueing, imagery, and most importantly hands on guidance, her students exhibit a renewed vitality in the way they move & feel. For Marcia, Pilates transcends movement beyond the studio and embodying the principles leads to feeling Better Than Good.

Marcia studied and trained extensively with Brett Howard, the Director of Education and a Senior Teacher of Teachers of the Classical Pilates USA Teacher Certification Program. Since completing her Pilates certification in 2014 through the New York Pilates Studio Certification Program, she’s worked with a wide range of clients at highly reputable studios in NYC, Jersey City, Vancouver B.C, and Washington. Having a passion for women’s health, Marcia completed a specialty certificate in Pre and Post-natal Pilates under Carolyne Anthony in 2015, and being a mom herself of 2 young boys, has since helped other women thrive during pregnancy & postpartum. With an insatiable desire for learning, Marcia completed her FAMI Level 1 Training at Mount Sinai Medical School through the Kinected Center in NYC. In February of 2019, Marcia decided to take the leap from her 17 year career in the corporate fashion industry and founded Canvas Pilates in order to dedicate her time to continue helping others thrive in their bodies. In 2023, she became certified as a Franklin Method Fascia Trainer for the Lower Back and continues to share her knowledge through workshops and mentorship. You can find her teaching in her lovely studio in the beautiful seaside town of Point Roberts or in her recently opened studio in Vancouver, B.C.
